Mark Russell - Churchtown Farm, Lanteglos, Cornwall
Churchtown Farm is a National Trust farm situated on the beautiful South West coastal path in, Cornwall, just across the estuary from Fowey. The area is renowned for its outstanding landscape and part of the farm is designated as a site of special scientific interest. We have had a successful ongoing relationship with Mark for over 15 years.
The land is farmed organically by its tenants Mark and Charlotte Russell, producing top quality beef and lamb in a natural system with the highest possible standards of animal welfare. Beef is produced from traditional breeds such as the South Devon and ‘Ruby' Devon Reds, which are suited to the climate and farmland of the South West. They can be seen ranging widely across the clover and herb rich pastures along the cliffs. Calves are reared suckling their mothers for most of the first year of their lives and all the animals are managed without the routine use of antibiotics and other drugs. The herd is entirely BSE free. The farm is managed under an environmental scheme which aims to restore coastal habitat, encouraging both wildflowers and nesting birds such as the skylark. The whole emphasis of the farm is to create a rich and varied landscape, providing a haven for wildlife, including the barn owl and many other birds of prey. The coastal fringe of th farm is designated as a site of Special Scientific Interest. The farm is certified by the Soil Association |
